What constitutes a mental health crisis?

A friend of mine has been going through a really tough time lately, and I'm worried about his mental health. I want to know when it crosses the line into something more serious. What constitutes a mental health crisis, where professional help is urgently needed?

A mental health crisis is when someone's thoughts, feelings, or behaviour cause them to be a danger to themselves or others, or they're unable to function day-to-day. It can feel like extreme distress or hopelessness. Pranayama and meditation can help in general, but in a crisis, immediate professional help is very important. It's okay to seek support.

A mental health crisis means someone's mental state is so unstable that they can't cope, and might be a risk to themselves or others. This can include severe panic attacks, suicidal thoughts, hallucinations, or extreme withdrawal. While home remedies help with small things, for a crisis, it's practical to get professional help immediately. Don't try to manage it alone.

When someone's mind becomes very disturbed, causing intense distress or making them feel they cannot continue, it can be a mental health crisis. It is a time for urgent care, understanding, and kindness. Remember, seeking help is a strength. Stay positive, and trust that support is available.

A mental health crisis is usually when someone's mental state makes them unable to function, or they might hurt themselves or others. Like, really extreme panic, suicidal thoughts, or losing touch with reality. Does anyone else get anxious just thinking about how to help someone in that state?

At NIMHANS, they define a mental health crisis as any situation where a person's mental state has deteriorated to the point where they are in acute distress, may harm themselves or others, or cannot care for themselves. This includes severe psychosis, suicidal ideation, or extreme agitation. It's a medical emergency, so seek professional help from a hospital or a mental health professional immediately. Don't hesitate.

It's when someone's mental health is so bad they might hurt themselves or others, or can't manage daily life. Think severe panic attacks, hallucinations, or really intense suicidal thoughts. 😔 It's a serious situation and definitely needs immediate help from a professional! 💖
