What causes vomiting before death?

My nani ji, bless her soul, was vomiting quite a bit in her last days, and it was really hard to see. It made me wonder what medically causes this symptom right before someone passes away.

Jab koi bahut bimar hota hai na, toh unka sharir andar se thak jata hai. Digest nahi ho pata kuch bhi aur acidity badh jaati hai. Aap unhe bas aaram dene ki koshish karo, zyada pareshan mat karo.

In terminal stages of illness, vomiting can happen due to organ shutdown, build-up of toxins, or even the heavy medications being given. It's really best to consult the palliative care doctor or their primary physician to help ease their comfort. They can give specific anti-nausea meds.

Honestly, at this stage, trying to force heavy meals makes it worse. Just keep giving small sips of water or electral if they can take it. Keep their head slightly elevated with a soft pillow so they dont choke.

Dekho, simplicity ye hai ki end stage pe organs reply dena band kar dete hain. Toxins body se nikal nahi paate, toh nausea hota hi hai. Ask the doc for some sublingual drops so they get relief without swallowing tablets.

At this delicate stage, absolute light liquids like coconut water or a tiny spoon of barley water is more than enough if they ask for it. Force-feeding solid food or heavy dairy will definitely trigger vomiting because the stomach cannot handle it anymore.

When the vital prana starts leaving the lower centers of the body, the digestive fire or jatharagni cools down completely. Food cannot be processed at all. Just keep the room well-ventilated and let them breathe naturally without any force.

I get so scared thinking about these things, it must be so tough for you. Could it be due to the liver or kidneys struggling to clear out the wastes? Please talk to their specialist once, just to make sure they aren't in any pain.

Haan na, bahut takleef hoti hai dekh kar. Body completely work karna stop karne lagti hai tab digestion bhi ruk jata hai. Unhe force mat karo khane ke liye, bas dry lips pe thoda paani laga do.

Please dont manage this on your own at home, it can lead to aspiration. It is highly recommended to call your doctor or hospice nurse immediately to see what is causing this sudden change.

I totally get it, seeing a loved one go through this is incredibly painful and stressful. Often it's just the body's natural process of winding down and digestive system slowing down. Just stay close to them and hold their hand.

During the final journey, the soul prepares to leave and the physical body naturally starts detaching from food and water. Try to keep the environment calm, play some soft music or chants, and keep them comfortable. God bless them.

We once delayed calling the doctor when my uncle was vomiting during his last days, thinking it was just generic weakness. That was a big mistake because he was highly uncomfortable. Get the palliative team to review the medicines right away.
