What causes type 1 and type 2 diabetes?

My father has Type 2 diabetes, and my niece was recently diagnosed with Type 1. It makes me wonder what the differences are. What factors lead to someone getting either Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes?

See, diabetes is a complex thing, don't rely just on internet info. My doctor at Apollo explained both types really well. Type 1 is autoimmune, Type 2 is usually lifestyle related but also genetics. Best to get proper consultation from a specialist, they explain everything clearly.

Namaste. My mother-in-law always says sugar is bad for everything, but actually, diabetes is more than just sugar. My family has some history, so I talked to my doctor. He said Type 1 means your body attacks itself, and Type 2 is when the body doesn't use insulin well, often from habits or family history. Always trust what the doctor says after checking you.

So, from what I've researched and my doctor also explained, Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition where your immune system mistakenly destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. Type 2, on the other hand, is mostly due to insulin resistance, where the body's cells don't respond effectively to insulin, often linked to genetics, obesity, and lack of physical activity. Both are serious and need proper medical management.

As someone with thyroid issues, I know how important it is to understand these chronic conditions. For diabetes, Type 1 is genetic/autoimmune, Type 2 is often lifestyle. Regular blood tests are super important, especially if it runs in your family. And keep following up with your doctor, don't just do one check and forget.

Honestly, I wish I hadn't ignored my fatigue and thirst earlier. For diabetes, especially Type 2, symptoms can creep up. Type 1 is usually diagnosed earlier. Don't be like me, please go get yourself checked properly by a doctor if you have any doubts. Early detection makes a huge difference, trust me.

Hello! 😊 So, for Type 1, your body kinda makes a mistake and attacks its own insulin cells, it's not about diet or anything you did. Type 2 is usually more about lifestyle, weight, and genetics, where your body doesn't use insulin properly. Both need attention from a doc! Stay positive! ✨

Ugh, another thing to worry about when I'm already surviving on 4 hours of sleep! 😂 But seriously, Type 1 is like your body's immune system playing a cruel prank on your pancreas. Type 2 is often when your body gets tired of processing all the jalebis you eat, or it's genetic. Either way, get it checked, don't be lazy like my sleeping habits.

Being a foodie, I always worry about these things. Type 1 diabetes, from what I know, is not about what you eat, it's an autoimmune issue. Type 2, that's where our beloved biryani and sweets might play a role if we overdo it, along with genes. Gotta balance those cravings with some healthy stuff, haan.
