What causes tummy pain?

My little son has been complaining of tummy pain off and on, and sometimes he refuses to eat because of it. We've tried giving him home remedies, but I'm worried. What are the general reasons kids get tummy pain?

Tummy pain can be due to simple gas or acidity, but sometimes it is related to poor metabolism from thyroid issues. Since I have thyroid problems, I always recommend getting a routine blood check and discussing persistent abdominal pain with a proper doctor.

Please do not ignore severe or recurring tummy pain by just taking antacids. I ignored my abdominal pain thinking it was normal gas, and it ended up being an acute appendix infection that required emergency surgery. Go to a doctor if the pain is sharp and persistent.

Common causes of abdominal pain range from mild indigestion and food poisoning to more serious issues like gallstones or ulcers. It is always best to monitor the severity of the pain and consult a general physician for an accurate diagnosis instead of self-medicating.

Beta, often tummy pain is caused by eating too fast or stomach dryness. Try drinking a cup of warm water with a pinch of hing (asafoetida) or chewing some fennel seeds. If the pain does not go away in a few hours, please show it to a doctor.

For mild stomach ache, a simple cup of ginger tea or peppermint tea works beautifully to ease the bloating. However, if you have severe cramping, vomiting, or fever, please skip the home remedies and visit a clinic immediately.
