What causes thyroid nodules to grow?

My sister has had a thyroid nodule for a few years, but now the doctor says it's gotten bigger. What causes thyroid nodules to grow and get larger?

Honestly, sometimes it is just lack of iodine or even basic genetic things that makes these nodules grow. I have high blood pressure and I realized that ignoring small body changes always backfires. Keep getting your regular ultrasound scans and blood tests done as advised by your endocrinologist to monitor any changes.

My grandmother used to say it is because of too much heat in the body and recommended eating certain cool foods, but my doctor explained it can happen due to small tissue overgrowths or fluid accumulation. It is very common and usually harmless, but we must follow what the specialist says. Have you shown the reports to an endocrinologist yet?

Did anyone else notice their neck feeling slightly heavy or tight when their nodules grew? I have been reading so much online and it is making me super anxious. Please let me know what your doctors said about the main causes, is it stress or something else?

Haan na, even my cousin had this issue and she was so scared initially. Actually, simple hormone fluctuations or thyroiditis can trigger this growth, nothing to panic about immediately. Just get it checked by a proper doc to be on the safer side.

Sometimes thyroid nodules grow due to hormonal imbalances and poor blood circulation in the neck region. Along with your regular medical treatment, doing gentle pranayama like Ujjayi and Halasana can help balance your energy, but do not skip your doctor's advice.

I had a tiny nodule last year and the doctor told me it can be due to cysts or just normal thyroid cells growing a bit fast. There is no single reason, sometimes it just happens. I got an FNAC test done just to be sure it is benign, you should ask your doctor if you need one too.

I can only share what happened in my case, as I am not a medical expert. My thyroid nodule grew slightly over two years due to simple fluid-filled cysts, which my doctor said was very common. They just monitored it every six months with an ultrasound without giving any heavy medicines.
