What causes thyroid nodules?

During a routine check-up, my doctor found a nodule on my thyroid. I'm a bit worried. What causes thyroid nodules to form in the first place?

I ignored a tiny lump in my neck for over a year thinking it was just swelling. It turned out to be a large thyroid nodule that needed surgery. Please go get an ultrasound immediately, don't delay.

Don't trust any Baba or YouTube video claiming to dissolve neck nodules with juices. A nodule needs an ultrasound guided biopsy to confirm its nature. Meet a real doctor.

I was researching this and found out that thyroid nodules are actually extremely common, especially as people get older. Most of them are small and don't even cause any symptoms.

Any new lump in the neck area should be evaluated by a professional endocrinologist. It is always safer to do an FNAC biopsy to ensure there is nothing to worry about.

Severe iodine deficiency can cause the thyroid gland to form nodules. Eating a balanced diet with iodized salt is helpful, but please get a proper medical scan to see the size of the nodule.

I recently had a benign thyroid nodule removed. They are mostly caused by an overgrowth of normal thyroid tissue or fluid-filled cysts, which are thankfully non-cancerous in 90% of cases.

Hormonal stagnation can sometimes manifest as small cysts or nodules in the neck. Practicing gentle neck movements and deep breathing can support gland health alongside your main medical therapy.

Haan, sometimes thyroiditis or inflammation also leads to these small lumps in the neck, na. Just go for an ultrasound to get a clear picture.

My endocrinologist explained that genetic predisposition, chronic thyroiditis (like Hashimoto's), or cysts are primary causes of thyroid nodules. Regular monitoring of their size is the standard medical approach.
