What causes thumb pain?

My thumb has been hurting quite a bit lately, especially when I try to grip things or use my phone a lot. It's getting a bit difficult to do daily tasks. What could be causing this thumb pain?

Try applying a warm poultice of turmeric and sesame oil on the joint, it helps with mild swelling. But if the pain is severe or you can't move your thumb at all, please show it to an orthopedist.

I know how stressful it is when a small joint hurts and you start worrying if it is arthritis. It can make daily work very difficult. It is usually just a minor strain, so take a deep breath.

Sometimes tight wrist muscles from doing heavy bench presses or holding dumbbells wrong can strain the thumb tendons. Try some basic wrist stretches and give it a rest for a couple of days.

I had severe pain at the base of my thumb because of scrolling too much on my phone. Stopping phone use for two days and using a basic wrist support band really helped me recover.

Haan, excessive typing or gaming can cause this tendon inflammation, na. It is quite common these days. Just give it some rest and do basic hot water therapy.
