What causes stomach cramps and vomiting?

My little daughter suddenly got very bad stomach cramps and then started vomiting a lot. We gave her some ORS, but I'm worried. Can someone tell me what causes stomach cramps and vomiting?

I once thought vomiting and severe cramps were just regular food poisoning, so I waited it out at home until I got severely dehydrated and had to be hospitalized. Please don't do that. Go see a doctor early to get proper antiemetics and IV fluids if needed.

Hey, don't panic. It's most likely a stomach bug or something bad you ate, but we need to make sure you stay hydrated. Sip on ORS or coconut water very slowly, don't gulp it down all at once. If you can't keep any liquids down at all, let's get you to a doctor today, okay?

Oh no, stomach bugs are the absolute worst! 😭 It is usually viral gastroenteritis or food poisoning from eating out. Take complete rest, sip on light rice water, and definitely consult a doctor if the vomiting doesn't stop soon! Get well soon! ✨

My family physician explained that acute gastroenteritis, food-borne bacteria, or viral infections are the most common triggers for sudden cramps and vomiting. He told me that the priority is always to prevent electrolyte imbalance using ORS. If the vomit has blood or you have a high fever, he said to head straight to the hospital.

Whenever I get stomach cramps and throw up, I start googling and get so scared thinking it's something dangerous like an obstruction. Honestly, most times it's just a stomach infection, but the anxiety makes the nausea worse. Please talk to a doctor soon so they can give you medicine and put your mind at ease.
