What causes steatosis of the liver?

My doctor mentioned I have 'steatosis of the liver' after some blood tests. He said it's related to fatty liver. What are the main things that cause fat to build up in the liver like this? I want to make sure I understand it.

I know how scary it is when you get an ultrasound report saying 'steatosis' (fatty liver). I literally cried thinking my liver was failing. But please don't worry, it is extremely common and usually just means fat buildup from diet or lifestyle, which can be reversed.

Bro, steatosis is basically fatty liver. It is mostly caused by eating too much junk food, drinking alcohol, or just having a lazy lifestyle with zero exercise. Cutting down on sugar and starting some basic workout or running fixes it easily.

I was just reading about this yesterday. Steatosis can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic. The non-alcoholic one is super common nowadays due to high insulin resistance and obesity. It is basically the liver storing excess fat from our daily diet.

For mild fatty liver, simple home habits like drinking warm water with lemon in the morning and avoiding fried food help a lot. But if you have pain or extreme tiredness, please see a doctor immediately to make sure it is not progressing.

Don't buy those expensive 'liver detox' juices or pills you see online, they are useless. Steatosis is caused by metabolic issues, obesity, or alcohol. You need a proper blood test and advice from a gastroenterologist, not some random internet remedy.

I was diagnosed with grade 1 steatosis last year. I went to a gastroenterologist at a good hospital who clearly explained that my sedentary lifestyle was the main cause. He put me on a weight loss plan, so please consult a specialist for a personalized approach.

Steatosis simply means fat accumulation in liver cells. It is usually caused by diabetes, high cholesterol, or a poor diet. Try to cut down on white rice, sugar, and alcohol, and walk for 30 minutes daily. It is very manageable if you start early.
