What causes sleep apena?

My wife keeps complaining that I snore very loudly and sometimes stop breathing in my sleep. She's worried it might be sleep apnea. What exactly causes sleep apnea?

Sleep apnea is usually caused by the airway temporarily collapsing during sleep, often linked to weight, throat structure, or nasal blockages. I highly recommend visiting a sleep specialist at a reputed hospital for a polysomnography (sleep study) to get an accurate diagnosis.

Please do not ignore this because sleep apnea can put a lot of strain on your heart over time. It can be caused by excess weight or even throat muscle relaxation. For your own safety, please schedule an appointment with a doctor as soon as possible.

With our hectic schedules and lack of physical activity, weight gain is a big trigger for sleep apnea. If you are snoring loudly and waking up tired, don't waste time trying random hacks. Book a doctor's appointment online this weekend and get it sorted.

Don't panic, sleep apnea is quite manageable once diagnosed. It often happens when the throat muscles relax too much or if there is some nasal congestion. Let a doctor guide you on whether you need a CPAP machine or just some lifestyle changes, okay?

While lifestyle factors like alcohol consumption, smoking, and obesity certainly contribute to sleep apnea, there are also structural causes like a narrow airway. Getting a professional medical opinion is definitely the best approach rather than self-treating.
