What causes sharp pain in the stomach?

Lately, I've been having these sharp, stabbing pains in my stomach, especially after eating certain foods. It's not indigestion, feels more specific and intense. What could be causing such sharp stomach pain?

Sharp stomach pain can be due to high acidity, a stomach infection, or sometimes stones. Keep sipping warm water and avoid heavy, greasy food entirely. If the pain is very sharp and doesn't go away in a few hours, please visit a local clinic.

Sometimes eating heavy lentils like rajma or kabuli chana at night can cause severe, sharp gas pain. Make sure to eat light, easily digestible vegetarian meals and walk a bit after eating. But if it's a persistent sharp pain, a doctor should check it.

Your stomach might be staging a protest against that extra spicy street food you had! Jokes apart, sharp pain can be gas or something like appendicitis. Lie down, relax, and if it continues to hurt like a needle, go see a doctor.

I was researching this because my friend had sudden sharp stomach pain. Apparently, the location matters a lot—upper right could be gallbladder, lower right could be appendix, and left could be kidney stones. It is always best to get an ultrasound done to be sure.

An ultrasound of the abdomen costs around 1000 to 1500 rupees and is the best way to find out what is causing sharp pain. Don't waste money buying random acidity syrups repeatedly. Get a doctor's prescription for the correct scan first.

Has anyone else felt a sharp, stabbing stomach pain that comes and goes every few minutes? It makes me so anxious that it might be something serious like an ulcer or infection. Did your pain resolve on its own or did you need medicine?

My mother always tells me to drink warm water with a pinch of hing for stomach spasms, which helps if it is simple gas. However, for sharp and intense pain, she also insists we consult a doctor immediately. It is better to get a professional diagnosis.

My love for spicy biryani often rewards me with sharp acidity pains that feel like a knife. While cutting down on masala helps, sharp pain can also be due to other internal issues, so don't just blame the food. Get it checked if it's severe.

With my PCOS, I sometimes get sharp pelvic or lower stomach pain due to ovarian cysts. It can be quite painful, but I always suggest getting an ultrasound instead of assuming it's just normal cramps. Please see a gynecologist or physician to be safe.

In my experience, many sharp stomach aches are just indigestion or heat, which get better with rest and light dahi-chawal. But one must never ignore severe pain that doesn't subside. Keep your mind calm and let a doctor examine you.
