What causes severe lower back pain?

For the past few months, I've been suffering from really intense lower back pain. Sometimes it's so bad I can't even stand straight. I need to understand what causes such severe lower back pain.

Honestly, sitting on my dining chair for hours eating heavy snacks and working gave me the worst backache last month. Sometimes bad posture combined with sudden weight gain from our love of food really puts a strain on the lower back. Try eating lighter meals and walking a bit.

Please do not try any random exercises or weird sleeping postures you see on YouTube for severe back pain. It could be a nerve compression or a disc bulge, and doing the wrong stretch can make it ten times worse. Go visit an orthopedic doctor and get a proper diagnosis.

My health band kept alerting me about active hours, and when I finally checked my posture metrics, I realized my lumbar support was zero. Muscle strain, disk issues, or weak core muscles often cause this. I've logged my daily stretching now, but if your pain is severe, you must get an MRI or doctor's checkup first.

I made the mistake of ignoring my lower back stiffness for six months, thinking it was just generic fatigue. It turned out to be a severe slip disc that required months of physiotherapy and bed rest. Don't make the same mistake, please get a professional opinion before it worsens.

I am literally writing this at 3 AM because my back won't let me sleep at all. Severe lower back pain is usually a mix of a terrible mattress, bad posture, and the universe punishing us for sitting like a shrimp all day. Definitely getting it checked because sleep is precious.
