What causes rotator cuff pain?

My shoulder has been bothering me for a few months now, especially when I try to lift my arm up or reach behind my back. My doctor mentioned it might be related to my rotator cuff. What typically causes pain in that area?

Beta, don't lift any heavy water buckets or boxes with that hand. My husband had this shoulder pain from lifting bags, and resting the arm completely for a week helped him. Put some warm mustard oil gently, but if pain is too much, visit the doctor.

Rotator cuff pain is commonly caused by repetitive overhead motions, lifting heavy weights incorrectly, or simple age-related wear and tear. It is highly advisable to get an MRI or consult an orthopedic specialist rather than trying to push through the pain.

Actually, sleeping on one side for too long also triggers this rotator cuff ache, yaar. I had to stop sleeping on my right side completely for two weeks. Just apply some pain spray and don't exert that arm for a bit.

I have thyroid issues and noticed that muscle and joint inflammation, especially in my shoulder, gets worse when my dosage is not right. Please check your blood levels and consult your doctor. Proper medical guidance is very important for shoulder recovery.

I went crazy thinking I broke something in my shoulder because I couldn't lift my arm to brush my hair. Turns out it was just mild tendinitis from a bad gym posture. A few sessions of physiotherapy and basic rest made it perfectly fine, so don't worry.
