What causes rheumatic fever?

I was reading about childhood illnesses and came across rheumatic fever. I remember my grandmother talking about it when she was a child. What causes rheumatic fever?

Don't worry too much, but please understand that rheumatic fever is a serious complication that happens when a strep throat infection isn't treated properly. Let's make sure to see a doctor soon so they can guide you with the right antibiotics.

I was reading about this because a friend had a bad throat infection. Rheumatic fever actually starts from untreated strep throat bacteria. It is super important to get a doctor's advice and finish the full course of medicines.

I know how scary it is to read about conditions that can affect the heart, it used to give me so much anxiety. Rheumatic fever is basically an inflammatory reaction to an untreated bacterial throat infection. Please consult a doctor to get a clear diagnosis and put your mind at peace.

From what I was researching, it is caused by the body's immune system overreacting to group A streptococcus bacteria, usually after a sore throat. It's really interesting how a throat infection can cause joint or heart issues if left untreated. Definitely a doctor's domain.

Please do not search for home remedies for rheumatic fever, as it is a serious inflammatory disease caused by untreated bacterial infections. Only a doctor can diagnose it and prescribe the proper course of antibiotics. Go to a hospital.
