What causes pain on left side of abdomen?

I've been experiencing a sharp pain on the left side of my abdomen sometimes, especially after eating. It's not severe, but it makes me uneasy. My elder sister suggested it might be gas, but I'm not sure.

I completely understand how terrifying it is when you feel an ache on the left side of your tummy. Your mind immediately starts racing with scary thoughts. Just take a slow breath; most of the time it is just gas or a mild muscle pull, so try to calm down before seeing a doctor.

Beta, left side abdominal pain is often due to constipation or wind. You can try taking a spoon of Isabgol with warm milk at night to clear your stomach. But remember, if the pain is severe or you have a fever, do not wait at home, go to the doctor.

Sorry to hear you are in pain. Try resting on your right side and drinking some warm water. I hope it is just a minor issue and you feel better very soon.

I used to get a dull ache there when my bowel movements were sluggish due to sitting too much. If your doctor confirms there is no major medical issue, try going for a brisk 30-minute walk daily. Regular physical movement really helps keep the digestive tract functioning smoothly.

Please don't listen to people telling you to drink random herbal mixtures for left side pain. The abdomen has many complex organs and trying internet hacks can delay proper treatment. Just visit a qualified general physician and get a proper diagnosis.

I am actually feeling a similar mild pain on my left side since yesterday and I am a bit scared. Does this pain usually get worse after eating certain foods, or does it stay constant? If anyone could share how long their pain lasted, it would really help me.

Please don't ignore this. I had left abdominal pain and kept delaying my checkup, thinking it was just gas, but it turned out to be a severe diverticulitis infection that required hospitalization. If the pain is sharp or persistent, please consult a doctor immediately.

Pain in the left lower quadrant can be linked to anything from IBS and gas to kidney stones or gynecological issues in women. Because the symptoms overlap so much, a clinical exam or ultrasound is the most logical route. Relying on professional medical advice is always the safest bet.
