What causes pain in the heels of feet?

Both my heels have started aching quite a lot, especially after standing for a while or getting up from bed. It's making daily activities a bit difficult. Any ideas what could be causing this persistent pain in both heels?

For mild heel pain, soaking your feet in warm water with a little rock salt can give nice relief, and rolling a cold water bottle under your foot also helps. However, if you have severe swelling or cannot bear weight, please see a doctor immediately.

I am also experiencing this heel pain recently, especially when I get out of bed in the morning. It is very painful to take those first few steps. Has anyone found any specific exercise that helps, or should I go to a doctor directly?

Managing my high blood pressure has taught me that excess weight and lack of movement can lead to heel pain. A healthy lifestyle and proper weight management help, but you must consult an orthopedist to ensure there isn't a bone spur.

I agree that poor footwear is often the culprit for heel pain. Getting customized orthopedic insoles from a doctor can make a huge difference.

I went to a reputed hospital for my heel pain, and the orthopedist clearly explained how stress fractures or nerve compression can cause this. I highly suggest visiting a good doctor and asking them to diagnose it properly rather than trying things at home.

I had terrible heel pain from wearing flat sandals to work every day. Switching to shoes with good arch support and doing light morning stretches solved it for me. Definitely get a doctor's opinion if the pain is stubborn!

My grandmother used to suggest applying warm sesame oil to the heels, which does soothe the muscles. But for a persistent issue like this, it is best to visit a doctor because it could be a tendon issue that needs medical attention.

Ah, the joys of crossing fifty! Now even standing up in the morning makes my heels scream. It is usually just wear and tear, but do yourself a favor and let a doctor check it so you don't end up limping around like me.

Heel pain is very annoying, ho na. Especially when you try to walk after sitting for sometime. Better to consult a doctor, because sometimes a small heel spur can cause this, let them check.
