What causes pain in the breast bone?

Sometimes I get a sharp pain right in my breast bone, especially when I move a certain way or press on it. It’s not heart related, my doctor already checked. What else could it be?

I know how absolutely terrifying it is to feel any pain near your breast bone, as your mind instantly fears a heart attack or something fatal. I have panicked over this so many times. Please try to take slow breaths, but do go to a doctor immediately to ease your mind and get checked.

Please do not take breast bone pain lightly or assume it is just gastric issues. I once delayed getting chest discomfort checked, and it led to severe complications that could have been avoided. Go to the nearest clinic or hospital and get an ECG done immediately.

I had breast bone pain last year and it was diagnosed as severe acid reflux. Please consult a doctor immediately to rule out any cardiac issues.

Oh God, pain in the breast bone would make me lose my sleep completely, I always panic about heart issues. Even though people say it is usually just gas or muscle pull, I wouldn't be able to rest. Please save yourself the stress and see a doctor right away.

I have seen this concern often in our group, and many times it is costochondritis, which is just inflammation of the rib cartilage, or simple acid reflux. However, since it is near the chest bone, you must never ignore it. Please visit a doctor or a clinic soon.

Please keep a positive spirit and try not to let fear overwhelm you. Often, chest bone pain is just acidity or a muscle strain from heavy lifting. I pray for your healing, and please do visit a doctor to make sure everything is perfectly fine.
