What causes ovarian cancer at a young age?

I recently read about a young woman my age getting ovarian cancer, and it made me really scared. Is there a specific reason why ovarian cancer can happen at such a young age? What causes it?

At a young age, it is mostly due to inherited gene mutations like BRCA1 or BRCA2. If you have a family history, look for package deals in local labs for genetic counseling because those tests can be a bit costly, but they are totally worth the planning.

I was diagnosed at 24 and doctors told me it was a rare germ cell tumor, which is different from what older women get. It was a shocker but we caught it early, so please don't ignore weird stomach swelling or sudden weight loss.

It feels incredibly unfair to even have to think about this when you are so young, and the anxiety can completely consume you. Just know that genetic mutations or developmental cell issues are usually the cause, and it is absolutely not your fault.

From what I tracked on my health forums, ovarian issues in young girls are often linked to genetic factors or endometriosis history. You can use period tracker apps to log abnormal pain or bloating cycles, which is great data to show your gynaecologist.

My daughter went through a scare at age 19 when we found out she had a cystic tumor. At this age, it is mostly related to genetic factors or abnormal cell growth from birth, so please stay strong and get a proper pelvic ultrasound done.
