What causes migraine headaches with aura?

Sometimes before my migraine starts, I see zigzag lines or lose part of my vision for a bit, then the headache hits. What is it that causes these 'auras' specifically with migraines?

Ugh, migraine with aura, that's like a VIP pass to a headache concert, complete with flashing lights before the main act! 😩 I'm usually sleep-deprived, so I blame that for half my problems. But honestly, it's that weird brain activity, like a short circuit, they say. If only my brain knew how to take a chill pill. Send help (and sleep!).

Migraines with aura are quite specific, and from my experience with managing high BP, I know how lifestyle factors can impact headaches. Stress, lack of sleep, and even certain weather changes can be huge triggers. It's really important to keep track of what sets it off for you. Also, regular checkups and discussing all symptoms with your doctor is crucial; don't self-diagnose.

For some individuals, certain foods can definitely trigger migraines, including those with aura. Common culprits might be aged cheese, chocolate, processed meats, or even too much caffeine. Keeping a food diary can help identify if any specific dietary component is causing issues for you. A balanced, whole-food plant-based diet often helps reduce inflammation, which can be beneficial.

While regular exercise is great for overall health, sometimes very intense workouts or not warming up/cooling down properly can be a trigger for migraines, especially with aura for some people. Listen to your body and maybe try lower-impact activities like brisk walking or yoga. Always check with your doctor if exercise is a trigger or if you should modify your routine.

I use a migraine tracker app, and it helps me correlate my aura episodes with specific triggers. Things like sleep deprivation, certain types of food (for me, it's red wine), hormonal shifts, and even changes in atmospheric pressure are commonly linked. The aura itself is a neurological event, basically a temporary brain activity disturbance. Tracking your patterns is super helpful to find your personal triggers.

Beta, yeh aura wali migraine bahut takleef deti hai. Humare samay mein, log kehte the ki tez dhoop, ya ekdum se bahut zor se awaaz sunne se bhi ho jaata hai. Ghar pe thoda aaram karo, sir pe thande paani ki patti rakho. Agar bahut zyada ho toh doctor ko zaroor dikhao. Aisi cheezein ignore nahin karni chahiye.
