What causes low kidney function?

My brother-in-law was just told he has low kidney function, and we're trying to understand what that means for him. He's a bit scared, and we want to be supportive. What generally causes kidney function to be low?

Honestly, for something as serious as kidney function, please don't rely on random internet remedies or advice. There are too many factors involved. Chronic diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure are common culprits. You absolutely need a proper diagnosis and treatment plan from a qualified nephrologist. Don't take chances with your health based on hearsay.

Beta, kidneys are very important for our body. Sometimes, if we don't take care of our body, like eating too much salty food or not drinking enough water, it can affect them. My grandmother used to say to drink coconut water and eat light food. But if the doctor says there is a problem, then you must follow their advice properly, don't ignore it.

I've had to manage kidney issues in my family, so I know this topic well. High blood pressure and diabetes are the biggest causes, so managing those is critical. Also, long-term use of certain medications, kidney stones, and infections can play a role. Regular check-ups, monitoring blood pressure, and controlled sugar levels are key. Stick to your doctor's prescribed diet and meds, it's non-negotiable.

Just like thyroid, kidney function can be subtly affected by other health conditions. Uncontrolled diabetes and high BP are big ones, but sometimes autoimmune diseases can also impact kidney health. It's super important to get regular blood and urine tests, especially if you have existing conditions, and always discuss results with your doctor for proper guidance.

Namaste. Kidney health is very important. My mother always said to drink plenty of water and not to hold urine. But nowadays, things like high sugar and blood pressure are big reasons. So, if there is any concern, please see a good doctor. They will tell you exactly what is happening and how to manage it. Family advice is good, but doctors know best for serious matters.
