What causes kidney stones while pregnant?

I'm in my second trimester, and a distant relative just told me she got kidney stones during her pregnancy. I'm a bit concerned now. Is it common, and what are the reasons kidney stones develop specifically during pregnancy?

Oh my god, kidney stones during pregnancy? That sounds incredibly stressful! I'd be overthinking every little symptom. It's probably because of hormonal changes or increased pressure on the kidneys. Please, please talk to your OB/GYN about this immediately. Don't worry alone.

This is making me a bit anxious just reading it. Did anyone else experience this during pregnancy? I always worried about every little thing. I think changes in metabolism and urine concentration are common causes. You should definitely discuss this with your doctor.

Kidney stones while pregnant? Isn't pregnancy already hard enough without adding stones to the mix? I'm already sleep-deprived thinking about parenthood, can't imagine this extra stress. Definitely talk to your doctor, they'll know what to do.

During pregnancy, you absolutely cannot rely on any internet advice or home remedies for something like kidney stones. Your body is already undergoing so much. There are many theories about causes like dehydration or diet changes, but only your doctor can tell you the real reason and the safe treatment plan.

I had a friend who developed kidney stones during her pregnancy, and it caused her a lot of pain and anxiety. Complications are possible, so it's super important to consult your gynecologist and maybe a urologist who specializes in pregnancy cases. Don't self-diagnose.

Even during pregnancy, diet and hydration are critical for everyone, including mom-to-be. Sometimes, calcium levels can change, or dehydration can make stones more likely. If you're physically active and eating well, that generally helps, but for stones, a doctor visit is non-negotiable.

My mother used to say pregnancy brings many new things, some good, some challenging. Kidney stones can sometimes happen because of how the body handles calcium and fluid during this time. Please trust your doctor completely, they will guide you through this with proper care.

During pregnancy, increased hormone levels can affect urine composition and slow down the urinary tract, making stone formation more likely. Plus, the growing uterus can put pressure on the ureters. It's crucial to consult your doctor for safe management and to prevent complications.

Even during pregnancy, maintaining some physical activity like gentle walks and staying super hydrated is good. But if kidney stones are the issue, it's a medical thing. Your doctor might recommend specific fluids or, if allowed, mild movement to help, but strictly under their guidance.
