What causes kidney stones to move?

A friend of mine had kidney stones a few years back, and he said the pain was unbearable when they started moving. What makes kidney stones shift from their original position and cause such intense pain?

Usually, when a kidney stone causes symptoms like pain, it means it's moving from the kidney into the ureter, which is that narrow tube connecting the kidney to the bladder. That's why it can be so painful. Please get it checked by a doctor for safety.

I totally get how scary it must be when you feel that pain, like something is shifting inside. Stones generally move due to gravity and the flow of urine trying to push them out. Sometimes drinking more water helps encourage smaller ones to pass. But if the pain is severe, don't wait.

Haan, the movement of kidney stones is what causes that characteristic excruciating pain. They move when they get dislodged from the kidney. If they are small enough, they might pass with enough water, but larger ones can get stuck. Always good to consult a doctor.

People will give you all sorts of 'home remedies' for moving stones, but please, do NOT trust random internet remedies. The stone moves when your body tries to expel it. Best to verify with a doctor what's actually happening and the safest way to manage it.

The moving part is the most painful, I hear. You might need imaging tests like ultrasound or CT scan to see where the stone is and how big it is, which can be costly. Plan for that, but don't postpone seeing a doctor just because of cost, your health is more important.

From what I understand, stones move when they detach from the kidney and travel down the urinary tract. That's when the pain usually starts because they can block the flow. Hydration is always important, but for moving stones, pls talk to a doctor for advice, it can be really bad.

With PCOS, I've learned that our bodies can be quite complex, and what triggers one issue might trigger another. Kidney stones moving usually means they are trying to pass through. It's important not to assume anything and get proper medical advice to manage it safely.

I had complications when my stone moved and got stuck, it was a nightmare. The pain was unbearable. When stones move, it means they are trying to pass. A doctor can assess the size and location and guide you on whether it can pass naturally or if intervention is needed. Don't delay.
