My gastroenterologist explained that fatty liver disease, particularly Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), is a significant public health issue. It's often strongly associated with metabolic syndrome risk factors such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, and high cholesterol or triglycerides. Essentially, excess calories, especially from refined carbohydrates and sugars, are converted into fat which then accumulates in the liver cells. Alcohol is a separate but well-known cause as well. Lifestyle modification is the primary treatment.

Fatty liver disease can be complex, and while diet and lifestyle are big factors, I know from personal experience with my thyroid that hormonal imbalances can also play a role. An underactive thyroid can sometimes lead to slower metabolism and weight gain, which increases the risk of fatty liver. So, if you're dealing with this, ensure your thyroid function is also checked during your regular doctor follow-ups.

I've been reading about fatty liver disease quite a bit! It seems like the non-alcoholic version is increasingly common and is heavily linked to poor diet choices, especially lots of sugary foods and processed stuff, and not enough physical activity. It's basically a lifestyle disease often seen with obesity and diabetes. Alcohol, of course, is a separate direct cause.

Arre beta, fatty liver disease... these days many people have it. Mostly it is from eating too much oily, spicy food and sweets, and not moving your body enough. Also, if you drink too much alcohol, it affects the liver very badly. Our elders always said 'jeevan shaili' (lifestyle) is important. Eat simple, move simple. God bless.

I was diagnosed with fatty liver disease (NAFLD) a couple of years back, and it was a real wake-up call. For me, it was definitely due to years of eating unhealthy food, too many sweets, and zero exercise. My doctor told me to cut out sugar, fried foods, and refined carbs completely, and start walking every day. It took effort, but my last scan showed significant improvement! It's manageable if you commit to lifestyle changes.

For someone like me managing diabetes, fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a serious concern, and my doctor has emphasized its close link to uncontrolled blood sugar and insulin resistance. It's essentially caused by the liver trying to process too much sugar and fat from the diet, leading to fat accumulation. So, strict control over carbs, sugars, and overall calorie intake is paramount to prevent and manage it.
