What causes estrogen receptor positive breast cancer?

My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer that's 'estrogen receptor positive'. I'm trying to understand the disease better so I can support her. What are the common causes for this specific type of cancer?

First, take a deep breath and don't panic. This type of cancer happens when estrogen receptors on the cell surface receive signals to grow from normal estrogen in the body. It sounds scary, but because doctors know exactly what is fueling it, the targeted hormone therapies are very successful.

Haan na, listening to these medical terms is so scary. Basically, the cancer cells feed on our body's estrogen. But honestly, the good thing is that doctors have great medicines to block this hormone and control it easily.

At our age, hormones go absolutely crazy anyway! Jokes apart, ER-positive cancer is caused when the estrogen hormone promotes abnormal cell growth. Just trust your oncologist, eat your home-cooked meals, and don't spend all night on Google.

My cousin went through this recently, and the doctors explained that factors like late pregnancy, early periods, or just genetics can sometimes cause estrogen receptors to overreact. She got through her treatment beautifully, so please stay positive and practical.

Interesting topic because hormone levels are closely tied to lifestyle. Research shows that high body fat can increase estrogen production, which sometimes triggers ER-positive cell growth. Maintaining a healthy BMI and tracking your active minutes is always a great preventive step.

My wife had this diagnosed almost fifteen years ago. Back then we were terrified, but the doctors told us that estrogen-driven cases are much easier to manage over the long term. She completed her hormone tablets, and she is healthy and playing with her grandkids today.

I am still trying to understand this properly. Does this mean eating foods high in estrogen can also cause this, or is it purely a hormonal issue inside the body? If anyone has any idea, please let me know.
