What causes eczema on infants?

My infant has developed some rough, red patches on his elbows and knees that seem to bother him. My pediatrician mentioned it might be eczema. What usually causes eczema in very young infants?

Hey, mereko bachpan mein severe eczema tha, mummy batati hain. Main toh bas khujli karta rehta tha! Mostly genetic hota hai suna hai, ya fir koi specific trigger jaise dust, ya kuch food bhi ho sakta hai.

Namaste beta. Bachchon ko jab aisi skin ki dikkat ho toh bohot dhyan rakhna padta hai. Hum log toh thoda nariyal tel lagate the, ya kabhi neem ke patte wala paani se nahlate the agar halka ho toh. Par doctor ko ek baar dikhana zaroori hai, taaki woh sahi wajah bata sakein.

Yaar, don't stress too much! It's super common in babies. Sometimes it's their skin being super sensitive, or reactions to something in their environment or diet even. Just keep their skin moisturised and ask your pediatrician, they'll guide you best.

Oh, infants ko bhi ho sakta hai? I always thought it was an adult thing. Is it like, itchy red patches? Do they feel pain also, or just itchiness? It sounds tough for such small babies.

Honestly, for my nephew, it was mostly due to certain soaps and detergents. As soon as my sister switched to a very mild, baby-specific one, it got much better. I don't know the exact medical reason but this worked for them, so maybe check what you're using for their clothes and bath.

Haan ji, mere chhote pote ko bhi hua tha. Doctors said it's often a mix of dry skin and allergies. Sometimes they outgrow it as their skin matures. Just make sure the baby is comfortable and not scratching too much, and get a good doc's opinion.
