What causes earache pain?

I woke up with a bad earache today and it's throbbing. I'm trying to figure out what might have caused this sudden earache pain.

I once ignored a mild earache for a week, thinking it would go away on its own. It turned into a massive middle ear infection that required strong antibiotics and weeks to heal. Please go get a professional checkup before it gets worse.

In the olden days, we used steam with a few carom seeds to clear nasal blockages, which relaxes ear pressure too. But you must never drop any liquid inside the ear yourself. If there is a deep ache, let a proper doctor examine the ear canal.

While diet doesn't directly cause earaches, inflammatory foods or dairy can sometimes increase mucus and sinus congestion, which blocks the ears. I prefer drinking warm turmeric water to reduce overall body inflammation. But for actual ear pain, a doctor is the only right person to consult.

I can only speak from my own experience, but my earache was actually caused by a bad wisdom tooth infection that was radiating upwards. I thought it was an ear issue, but my dentist found the real culprit. It might be worth checking your teeth too.

Applying a warm compress around the ear or taking steam can really help if the pain is due to a cold. However, if you feel a sharp throbbing pain or notice any discharge, please don't rely on home remedies. Go straight to an ENT specialist.

Most earaches are just results of swimming water, headphone overuse, or sinus pressure from air-conditioned offices. Don't waste time trying weird tricks at home. Just book a quick ENT appointment and get it sorted out in fifteen minutes.
