What causes clavicle pain?

I woke up with this dull ache around my collarbone area, and I don't remember injuring it. It's a bit bothering me. What could be the reason for clavicle pain?

I had this sharp collarbone pain last year and was completely terrified it was something life-threatening. I totally understand how stressful any sudden bone pain can feel. Try to take a deep breath, most times it is just a muscle strain or sleeping wrong, but do see a doc to put your mind at ease.

Clavicle pain can range from a simple muscle strain to a hairline fracture, arthritis, or even a bone infection. Because of its proximity to major nerves and blood vessels, you should never ignore persistent collarbone pain. Please get an X-ray and consult an orthopedic specialist to be safe.

I was looking up clavicle pain because my gym buddy had it. Apparently, sleeping in an awkward position on your side or carrying a very heavy backpack can put excessive pressure on the collarbone joint and cause severe soreness. It is interesting how easily that area can get strained.

Every time I feel a weird pain near my shoulder or clavicle, my mind immediately jumps to bone issues or nerve damage. Please try not to over-research online because it will only increase your anxiety. Just visit a local clinic and let a doctor examine it properly.

I managed to strain my collarbone area just by awkwardly reaching over for the last slice of pizza on the table! But seriously, bad posture while sitting and eating on the couch can put a lot of pressure there. If the pain doesn't go away with simple rest, please show it to a doctor.

According to my orthopedist, clavicle pain is frequently caused by AC joint injury, shoulder bursitis, or distal clavicle osteolysis, especially in people who do heavy lifting. The doctor mentioned that any localized swelling or warmth near the collarbone needs a clinical examination and possibly an ultrasound or X-ray.
