What causes ankle pain?

Since last few weeks, my left ankle has started hurting a lot, especially in the mornings. I haven't had any injury or fall, so I'm confused. What are the common causes of ankle pain?

Honestly, putting on weight from all my late-night biryani cravings started putting too much pressure on my ankles! If there is no injury, it could just be your joints complaining about the extra load like mine did.

I ignored a minor ankle twist last year and ended up with chronic tendonitis that took six months of painful physiotherapy to heal. Please do not walk on it if it hurts, and see an orthopedic doctor immediately.

My left ankle has been throbbing continuously since yesterday morning for no reason. Has anyone else experienced sudden ankle pain without any physical fall or injury? I am getting really nervous about it.

I can't say what is causing your pain, but for me, ankle pain was the first symptom of high uric acid levels. Once I modified my diet and took the medicine prescribed by my doctor, the pain went away completely.

Ankle pain can range from a simple muscle strain to arthritis or ligament issues. Keep the foot elevated, apply some warm compress if there is no swelling, and if the pain doesn't subside in two days, please see a doctor.

I used to get severe ankle pain due to flat feet. Getting customized orthopedic insoles for my shoes completely solved the problem. Try giving your ankle rest, use ice packs, and wear supportive footwear.

It is either a ligament sprain from a bad step or uric acid issues. Stop guessing, get a basic blood test for uric acid, and visit an orthopedist. It's a quick fix if diagnosed early.

My son twisted his ankle during football practice and we thought it was a minor sprain, but it was a hairline fracture. Please get an X-ray done to make sure there's no internal bone injury.
