What causes an ocular migraine?

Sometimes I get these strange blind spots or flashing lights in my vision, but no headache, just the visual disturbance. Someone told me it could be an 'ocular migraine'. What causes these types of migraines?

It is so frustrating when you suddenly can't see properly for 20 minutes and people around you don't understand the pain. It really took a toll on my mental health. Just know that you are not alone, and it does get better with management.

Oh my god, when I first saw those blind spots in my eye, I thought I was going blind and panicked so much! It is usually temporary spasms in blood vessels, but please get it checked so you don't keep stressing like me.

Poor blood circulation and neck stiffness can sometimes trigger these ocular issues. If your ophthalmologist gives the green light, try adding a daily 45-minute brisk walk. It did wonders for my overall migraine frequency.

For me, these eye vision changes were a direct warning sign of fluctuating high blood pressure. Please don't ignore this; get your BP checked regularly and discuss this with your physician.

I noticed my ocular migraines triggered whenever I skipped meals or had too much processed cheese. Try keeping a food diary to see if certain foods are causing these episodes, and eat fresh, home-cooked meals.

Ocular migraine is actually caused by reduced blood flow to the eye, yaar. For me, excessive laptop screen time and lack of sleep triggers it instantly. Just take a break and close your eyes.

Ah, the joys of getting older! Now my eyes have their own light show happening. My doctor says it's just blood vessels misbehaving in the brain, nothing to worry about unless it lasts too long.
