What causes a person to talk in their sleep?

My husband often talks in his sleep, sometimes it's just mumbling, other times full sentences. It's quite peculiar and sometimes keeps me awake. I'm just curious, what causes a person to talk in their sleep?

Usually, sleep talking happens due to stress, late dinners, or drinking warm chai right before bed. Try having a cup of warm chamomile tea or warm milk, and avoid screens before sleeping. But if it is accompanied by violent movements, please consult a doctor.

I totally get it, it can be so embarrassing when your partner tells you that you were shouting in your sleep! It usually happens when our mind is overly tired or carrying too much stress from the day. It's very common, so please don't feel bad about it.

My wife says I hold full board meetings in my sleep and even argue with my boss! With this kind of daily work stress, when else will our brain get time to talk? It is just our tired mind trying to process the day's chaos.

My roommate told me I was having full conversations in my sleep last night and I don't remember a thing! Does this happen to anyone else when they are super tired? I'm worried I might blurt out some secrets!

Actually, it's called somniloquy yaar. It usually triggers when you are sleep-deprived or having intense dreams. For me, if I sleep late after watching a horror movie, I definitely start talking gibberish.

I have recently started talking in my sleep according to my sister, and I'm a bit shy to ask this. Is sleep talking linked to any mental health issues, or is it just a normal thing that happens when we are tired?

I used to babble a lot in my sleep during heavy work projects. The trick is to fix a strict sleep schedule and keep your phone in another room 30 minutes before sleeping. Once your brain gets proper deep sleep cycles, the talking stops automatically.
