Uncontrolled blood sugar levels make it very easy for bacteria to grow in the urinary tract, leading to kidney infections. As a diabetic, I am extremely careful about my hygiene, drinking enough water, and regular kidney function tests.

Don't panic, but a kidney infection usually starts from an untreated urinary tract infection or sometimes due to kidney stones blocking the path. Drink plenty of water to flush out bacteria, and please get a doctor's advice on antibiotics.

I completely understand how terrifying it feels when you suspect a kidney issue. In males, it can happen due to kidney stones or UTI. Please don't search too much online; a simple urine test will clarify everything and ease your mind.

At our age, prostate enlargement can also block the bladder, which keeps urine trapped and causes kidney infections. It is a bit embarrassing to talk about, but a quick visit to the urologist can solve this easily.

Kidney infections are often secondary to urinary blocks or low immunity. Just like I do for my thyroid, you should get a regular urine culture and routine blood tests to catch any infection early and consult your doctor.

Please take this very seriously and do not ignore it. I delayed treating a urinary issue, which turned into a severe kidney infection, and I had to be hospitalized for a week on IV antibiotics. See a urologist immediately.
