What can be mistaken for liver pain?

My dad has been experiencing some discomfort in his upper right abdomen, and he's worried it might be his liver. What are some other conditions that can cause pain in that area and be mistaken for liver pain?

My grandmother always said that sometimes severe indigestion or gallstones can cause pain in the upper right abdomen, making it feel like liver pain. It's true, the body is complex. While home remedies for acidity might give temporary relief, for any persistent pain, it's always best to trust the doctor's diagnosis.

I had a sharp pain in my right upper abdomen recently, and my mind immediately went to liver issues. Turns out, it was gallstones causing all the trouble. The pain was exactly where my liver is, so it's super confusing. Get an ultrasound, that's what cleared it for me.

For kids, sometimes severe gas or even appendicitis (though usually lower right) can present with unusual abdominal pain that might concern parents about organs like the liver. If the child complains of consistent pain in the upper right abdomen, especially with vomiting or fever, see a pediatrician immediately.

I once had a very sharp pain under my right rib cage and instantly panicked, thinking it was my liver. Turns out it was just a severe gas buildup and some heartburn. It felt so real though! The location can be very confusing, but usually it's something less serious. Still, get it checked.

Honestly, sometimes after a huge meal of rich, oily food, I get this weird ache in my upper abdomen. I always joke it's my liver protesting the delicious assault! But seriously, severe indigestion, gallstones, or even a bad muscle strain in the ribs can feel very similar. Pass the antacids!
