What can a kidney patient take for a cold?

My mother has kidney issues and recently caught a cold. We're very careful about any medication she takes, so what can a kidney patient safely take for a cold?

For kidney patients, regular pain killers or heavy decongestants are a big no-no as they put pressure on filtration. Stick to natural steam and warm fluids, and always call your nephrologist before taking even a simple paracetamol.

I agree that OTC cold medicines can be very dangerous for kidneys. Simple warm water steam inhalation is the safest first step.

In our family, we usually make warm pepper rasam for colds, but for someone with kidney issues, even fluid intake has to be restricted. Please consult their kidney specialist doctor before giving any home remedy or over-the-counter pill.

Many common cold medications contain ingredients that can severely affect kidney function or raise blood pressure. It is best to use a health app to consult a doctor online quickly rather than self-medicating.

Keep your body rested and do very light stretching inside the room if you feel up to it. Since heavy cold medications are risky for kidneys, let your doctor prescribe a kidney-safe antihistamine if needed.

Kidney cases mein koi bhi random sardi ki dawai mat dena, haan. Doctor se pooch kar hi simple safe tablets lena, na toh kidney par load pad sakta hai.

Taking steam with plain water twice a day helps open the nose safely. But if there is a high fever or breathing difficulty, do not wait at home and take them to the hospital immediately.
