What can a diabetic eat for lunch?

I'm always struggling to find healthy and diabetic-friendly lunch ideas. What are some good options that a diabetic can have for lunch?

I used to panic thinking lunch meant giving up rotis and rice forever when I got diagnosed. But actually, a simple lunch with one oats roti, a big bowl of green vegetables, and some curd is perfectly fine and keeps sugar stable. Don't worry, you will easily get used to this routine.

My mother was recently diagnosed and we are still learning. Is it okay to give her one small multigrain roti with a bowl of dal and green vegetables for lunch, or should we avoid wheat completely?

I totally get how overwhelming and scary it is to plan every single meal when you have diabetes. For lunch, a balanced plate with fifty percent green salad, some paneer bhurji, and a small portion of brown rice or jowar roti works beautifully and keeps your mind at peace.

My teenage son has type 1 diabetes, so I make his lunch very carefully. I usually pack a jowar roti with plenty of leafy greens and a portion of grilled paneer or dal. Just ensure they drink enough water and check their sugar before and after lunch.

I agree with the others. Having a bowl of cucumber salad right before eating your main lunch helps control sugar spikes very effectively.

A standard diabetic lunch should have jowar or bajra roti, a bowl of dal, and plenty of green salad. Avoid white rice as much as possible.

Simple rule boss: cut down the white rice and maida. Eat two mixed-grain rotis, a big bowl of seasonal green sabzi, and a cup of plain curd or dal. It is healthy, filling, and won't spike your sugar.
