What blood work tests liver function?

My doctor wants to check my liver function during my annual physical. I was curious, what specific blood work tests liver function? I like to be informed about my health check-ups.

You should ask for a Liver Function Test (LFT) which checks enzymes like SGPT and SGOT. Maintaining a good workout routine and avoiding processed sugars is great for keeping these liver enzymes in the healthy range.

Beta, they call it the LFT test in the hospital. They will take a little blood from your arm to see if your liver is working fine. Take care and drink clean water.

When I had liver issues, a simple LFT was the starting point, but my doctor had to monitor it very closely due to some complications. Please get tested at a good lab and review it with a specialist immediately.

I have to get my LFT done tomorrow because of some mild itching and fatigue. I am feeling really anxious about what the SGPT levels will show. Did anyone else have similar symptoms and find normal results?

Yes, a standard Liver Function Test (LFT) checking SGOT, SGPT, and bilirubin is the correct blood work to get done.
