What blood work shows liver function?
My friend was feeling quite tired and her doctor suggested getting liver function tests. I'm wondering, what specific blood work shows liver function? I want to know more about it to help her understand.

According to my physician, the standard blood panel is a Liver Function Test (LFT). It specifically evaluates enzymes like SGPT (ALT), SGOT (AST), alkaline phosphatase, and bilirubin levels to assess overall liver health.
Between work stress and lack of sleep, my liver was taking a hit, so I got an LFT done. It checks bilirubin and SGPT to see how much strain your system is taking. Simple blood test, get it done!
I got my routine LFT done during my annual checkup at Apollo. You should ask your doctor clearly which parameters they want to focus on, as sometimes they also suggest an ultrasound of the abdomen.
I kept ignoring my constant fatigue until a routine LFT showed very high SGPT levels. Please don't ignore what your body is saying, get a simple Liver Function Test done as soon as possible.
