What blood test checks kidney?

My doctor suggested I get some routine blood tests done, and mentioned checking my kidney health. I was wondering what specific markers they look for. What blood test checks the kidney?

Beta, doctor log khoon ke test se kidney ki jaanch karte hain. Creatinine aur Urea level dekhte hain. Usse pata chalta hai ki kidney theek se kaam kar rahi hai ya nahi. Saada sa test hota hai, karwa lena chahiye agar zaroori lage.

Ah, the kidneys! Our body's internal water filters. To check if they're still doing their job, docs usually order a 'KFT' or Kidney Function Test. It checks levels like creatinine and urea. No magic potion, just good old blood work!

Hello, I'm new to all this. I heard about something called a Kidney Function Test (KFT). Does that check everything about kidneys, or are there other tests too? And is it a routine test?

For kidney health, a Kidney Function Test (KFT) is the main one. It includes tests like creatinine, urea, and sometimes uric acid. It's usually not too expensive, you can get it done at most labs. It's important for regular health checkups, especially as we get older.

The primary blood tests for kidney function are Creatinine, Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), and eGFR (estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate). These collectively provide a good picture of how well your kidneys are filtering waste. A Kidney Function Test (KFT) panel will usually include these.
