What are the sinus cavities?

I've been having really bad sinus headaches lately, and the doctor keeps talking about my 'sinus cavities'. I actually don't know exactly what they are or where they're located.

I was just reading about this! They are basically four pairs of hollow air-filled spaces in your skull—behind your forehead, cheeks, between your eyes, and behind them. They help filter the air we breathe and make our skull lighter, which is pretty cool.

Yes, that's correct. When these cavities get blocked with mucus due to a cold or allergy, you feel that heavy pressure and pain in your face.

Think of them as small air passages around your nose and forehead. When they get blocked, the pressure is unbearable. A simple, practical way to clear them is warm steam inhalation with a drop of eucalyptus oil and drinking warm water throughout the day.

I just recovered from severe sinusitis last week, and my doc showed me on a diagram. These cavities are lined with a thin membrane, and when they get inflamed, mucus gets trapped. That is what causes that terrible headache and cheek pain.

Haan na, they are just air pockets in our facial bones. When we get a cold, they block up and cause so much pain in the forehead and nose area, ho na? Doing steam inhalation really helps to clear them up naturally.
