What are the signs that your liver is failing?

My father has been feeling very weak lately, and his skin looks a bit yellowish. Someone at the clinic mentioned it could be related to his liver. I'm trying to understand what signs indicate that a liver is failing.

Severe yellowing of the skin and eyes, which is advanced jaundice, is a major sign of liver failure. You might also notice deep confusion, slurred speech, or heavy swelling in the stomach and legs. Please take them to a hospital emergency room immediately; this is a critical situation.

Look out for easy bruising, bleeding that doesn't stop quickly, and dark, tarry stools. These happen because a failing liver stops producing clotting proteins. If you also see mental confusion or extreme drowsiness, go straight to the nearest casualty department.

My uncle went through liver failure, and his stomach bloated up like a balloon with fluid, which the doctors called ascites. He also started forgetting basic things and acting very weird. If you see this, don't waste time, go to the hospital right now.

If there is sudden confusion, extreme weakness, or vomiting of blood, please rush to a well-equipped multi-specialty hospital. Ask the doctors clearly about liver function tests and if an emergency transplant team is needed. Don't try to manage this at a small clinic.

I ignored my dark urine and mild confusion for weeks, thinking it was just work stress and dehydration, until I collapsed. My liver was near failure. If you are feeling deeply disoriented, constantly nauseous, or have yellow eyes, please get to a doctor immediately. Don't make my mistake.

Liver failure can manifest as acute confusion, severe vomiting of blood, or dramatic swelling in the lower limbs. These are life-threatening signs that require immediate medical intervention. Consulting a gastroenterologist or hepatologist is the only proper way to handle this.
