What are the signs of piles?

I've been experiencing some discomfort and pain during bowel movements, and sometimes there's a bit of blood. My colleague said it sounds like piles. What are the common signs of piles?

A very common sign is pain or a burning sensation during bowel movements, often followed by bright red blood. This usually happens if you aren't getting enough fiber and suffer from chronic constipation. I highly recommend adding more green leafy veggies and papaya to your diet, and drinking lots of water.

Beta, don't feel shy about this; it is a very common issue that happens with age and sitting for long hours. You will feel a lump or swelling near the area, along with itching. Don't worry, it is completely treatable if you catch it early and consult a good doctor.

If you see bright red blood on the tissue or in the toilet bowl, it's likely piles. Go get it checked by a general surgeon.

Please do not ignore this or try to self-treat for too long. I delayed showing it to a doctor, and it turned into severe bleeding and a painful prolapsed pile that needed surgery. If you feel a constant painful lump, go see a specialist immediately.

My son had this issue because of bad eating habits and constant constipation. He used to complain of pain while sitting and we noticed some swelling. We immediately saw a doctor who gave us some ointment and stool softeners, which helped him immensely.

Don't fall for those random 'cure piles in 3 days' home remedies you see online. If you are experiencing bleeding or painful lumps, go to a qualified doctor. Only a medical professional can tell you if it's piles or something else requiring proper treatment.
