What are the side effects of thyroid medicine?

My wife recently started taking medication for her thyroid issue. She's been feeling a bit off since then. What are some of the common side effects of thyroid medicine that we should be aware of?

Usually there aren't many side effects if you take the correct dose. But if the dosage is too high, you might feel shaky or get heart palpitations.

Thyroid medicine is basically just replacing the hormone your body is lacking, so side effects are rare unless the dosage is incorrect. If you experience sudden sweating, nervousness, or weight changes, it means your dose needs adjustment. Definitely consult your endocrinologist and get regular TSH tests before changing anything.

Hey! I've been taking my tiny morning pill for 3 years now and honestly felt no major side effects at all. 😊 Just make sure you take it on an empty stomach and don't eat anything for 45 minutes. It keeps my energy levels great throughout the day!

My doctor at Apollo explained that thyroid medication side effects only happen when there is an overdosage or underdosage. For example, if the dose is too high, it mimics hyperthyroidism, causing sleep issues, anxiety, and a rapid pulse. That's why he keeps checking my TSH levels every 3 to 6 months to keep it perfectly balanced.

Haan na, initially when I started the medicine, I used to feel a bit of muscle weakness and slight acidity in the morning. But my doctor told me to drink lots of water and not have tea immediately after the pill. It got totally fine within two weeks, so don't worry at all.

Don't stress too much about starting the medicine, it is very safe and actually helps you feel much better. Just keep an eye out for initial signs like mild headaches or feeling too hot, which can happen while your body adjusts. If anything feels off, just call your doctor and they will fix the dose for you, simple.

I have noticed that taking the medicine correctly is key, otherwise you might face mild stomach upset. Also, you must avoid taking calcium or iron supplements right after your thyroid pill as they can interfere with absorption. Keep a gap of at least 4 hours for your supplements and healthy morning juices.
