What are the side effects of tb?

Someone in my neighborhood was recently diagnosed with TB. I heard it can be quite serious. What kind of side effects does the disease itself cause?

My doctor has started me on TB medicines because of a persistent cough, and I am sweating so much at night and feeling extremely weak. Is anyone else also experiencing these sudden night sweats? I feel so scared every evening.

I was reading up on Tuberculosis and it seems the classic side effects are a persistent cough that lasts more than three weeks, chest pain, and coughing up blood. It also causes drastic weight loss and a fever that usually spikes in the evening.

My colleague, who is a pulmonologist, explains that TB bacterium primarily attacks the lungs, leading to tissue damage, which causes chest pain and hemoptysis (blood in sputum). It also releases toxins that cause night sweats and severe cachexia (muscle wasting). Proper DOTS therapy is critical.

I know how terrifying it is to cough continuously and worry about what is wrong with your lungs. TB can make you feel extremely drained, lose your appetite, and run a low-grade fever. Please take a deep breath and get a proper sputum test done; it is fully treatable.

TB causes heavy weight loss, fever, and a very bad cough. Please make sure you are eating high-calorie meals to gain back your strength and never skip your daily medications.

A guy in my hostel had TB and he lost so much weight, he looked totally different within a month. He was coughing all the time and had zero energy to even attend classes. He took his meds for six months and now he is completely back to normal.

My cousin had TB, and our grandmother used to say the disease weakens the lungs completely, so absolute rest is needed. Along with home care and warm foods, the most important thing is to complete the full 6-month course of antibiotics strictly as your doctor says.

The body is fighting a tough battle against the infection, which is why you feel so weak and tired. Keep your mind calm, pray for strength, and eat simple, nourishing food to help your body recover. Take care, dear.
