What are the liver enzymes in blood work?

My doctor ordered a blood test and mentioned checking my 'liver enzymes.' I'm not sure what that means or if I should be concerned. Could someone tell me what are the liver enzymes in blood work?

Hey! When you get blood work for liver enzymes, they usually check for a few main ones. The most common are ALT (Alanine Aminotransferase) and AST (Aspartate Aminotransferase). High levels can sometimes indicate liver damage. They also check ALP (Alkaline Phosphatase) and GGT (Gamma-Glutamyl Transferase). It's always practical to discuss your results with your doctor!

I've also seen this come up in my health research! The main liver enzymes they check in blood tests are Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT), Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP), and Gamma-Glutamyl Transferase (GGT). Higher levels can suggest liver cell damage, so it's a good indicator.

You're asking a really important question. The main liver enzymes checked in blood work are ALT and AST. Elevated levels can indicate liver damage, and I know from personal experience with complications that ignoring early signs is dangerous. They also check ALP and GGT. If your results are off, please see a doctor immediately to understand why and prevent serious issues.

Yeah, liver enzymes in blood work are pretty common. They usually check for ALT and AST, which show if liver cells are damaged. Then there's ALP and GGT, which can point to issues with bile ducts. My doc explained it to me last year during a checkup. If these are high, they usually investigate further.

My doctor explained this during my last full body checkup. The primary liver enzymes typically measured in blood work to assess liver health are Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) and Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST). Elevated levels often indicate liver cell injury. Additionally, Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) and Gamma-Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) are checked, which can be elevated in bile duct issues or certain liver conditions. These are key indicators.
