What are symptoms of impending heart attack?

My father has a history of heart problems in our family. Lately, he's been complaining of some uneasiness. What are the warning signs or symptoms of an impending heart attack that we should not ignore?

Listen, if you or someone you know feels like there's a heavy pressure or squeezing in the chest, especially if it spreads to the arm, neck, jaw, or back, don't take it lightly. Also, sudden shortness of breath, cold sweats, nausea, or lightheadedness are serious. Just get to a hospital, no questions asked. Better to be safe.

Beta, it's very important to know these signs. Often, people ignore it thinking it's just gas or acidity. But if there's discomfort in the chest, a tightness, or pain that travels to the arm or shoulder, especially the left side, it's a warning. My husband had similar signs, and we rushed him. Early action is key to saving a life. Don't worry, but be aware.

I've been reading up on this because it's good to know. Besides the classic chest pain, apparently, women can experience more subtle symptoms like unusual fatigue, indigestion, or pain in the jaw or back without much chest discomfort. It's confusing because these could be so many things, but if they're sudden and severe, it's definitely a red flag.

If a person suddenly feels very weak, or has a squeezing pain in the chest, like a heavy weight, it is a bad sign. My elders used to say, if it feels like your breath is leaving your body, then don't waste a minute. Some people also feel pain in their upper body, not just chest. While ginger tea helps for common cold, for this, only hospital can help.

Any chest discomfort, tightness, or pain, especially if accompanied by sweating, shortness of breath, or dizziness, needs immediate medical attention. It's always best to err on the side of caution and get it checked by a doctor or go to the emergency room. Don't wait to see if it gets better, time is critical.

Oh, this is very important to know. One man in our village, he felt very dizzy and tired for a few days, and then one day his chest started hurting badly. He also felt like throwing up. Always go to the hospital if you feel such things. Don't ignore it, tell someone immediately.

Some fitness trackers can monitor heart rate variability and even irregular heart rhythms, which can be indicators. But irrespective of tech, physically, watch out for chest tightness, pain radiating down the arm, sudden sweating, or feeling faint. If my watch shows unusual heart rate patterns with those symptoms, I'm definitely headed to an emergency room.

Though kids rarely get heart attacks, it's good for me to know these signs for my parents. My dad recently had a scare, he felt a strange discomfort in his arm and jaw for a few days. We took him for a checkup, and they said it was good we came in. Any unusual symptom, especially if it's new and doesn't go away, should be checked by a doctor, period.
