What are liver salts used for?

My mother has been advised some medication for her digestion, and I heard the chemist mention something about 'liver salts'. What are liver salts used for in modern medicine?

They are basically used to get rid of that heavy, bloated feeling after you eat way too much junk or spicy food. It is like an antacid that fizzes up and clears acidity and indigestion really fast. Super useful to keep in your hostel room for late-night food emergencies.

We use them at home as a quick, cheap solution for acidity, gas, or a sour stomach. You just mix a spoonful of the powder in a glass of water and drink it immediately when you feel heartburn. It is a very practical remedy, but if the acidity persists for days, please see a doctor.

I once thought 'liver salts' meant I had some serious liver disease and panicked when my relative suggested it. But it is actually just a common term for fizzy antacids like Eno, used for simple gas and acidity. It is completely normal to use them for quick relief, so don't stress.

In our younger days, we always kept these effervescent salts in the medicine cabinet for indigestion after heavy festival meals. They work very well to neutralise stomach acid and relieve bloatedness. It is a time-tested remedy, so don't worry about using it occasionally.

Liver salts act as an effervescent antacid to relieve symptoms of dyspepsia, indigestion, and temporary flatulence. While they are highly effective for short-term symptomatic relief, they contain high sodium levels which might not be suitable for everyone. It is always wise to consult a doctor if you have chronic acidity issues.

I was told they help with indigestion and heavy stomach, but I have never used them myself. Are they completely safe to take for mild heartburn, or do they have any side effects if we use them often? I would love to know if anyone uses them regularly.

They are used for quick relief from acute acidity, heartburn, and bloating. When you have back-to-back meetings and can't afford to deal with a burning stomach, these fizzy salts are a life saver. Just drink it down and you can get back to work in minutes.
