What age is asthma diagnosed?

My younger cousin, who is only 6, was recently diagnosed with asthma after a lot of coughing spells. I always thought it was something that developed later in childhood or even adulthood. At what age is asthma typically diagnosed?

Asthma can be diagnosed at any stage of life, though it very commonly starts in early childhood. Many adults also develop it later due to pollution. It is best to get a spirometry test from a pulmonologist.

Bhai, asthma ka koi fix age nahi hota hai, baccho se lekar badon tak kabhi bhi ho sakta hai. Pollution itna badh gaya hai aajkal toh ye normal ho gaya hai, na? Doctor se check karwana hi sahi rahega.

I kept ignoring my constant night cough in my late 20s thinking it was just a normal allergy. By the time I went to the doctor, my lungs were quite struggling. Please get a proper checkup if you have wheezing.

I am not very sure about this, but can a child outgrow asthma if they are diagnosed very early? My little nephew was recently told he has mild wheezing and we are a bit worried.

It can appear in toddlers as well as older adults. Please do not self-diagnose or use random inhalers without a doctor's prescription, as breathing issues require professional evaluation.

Every time I cough, I start worrying if I am developing asthma in my 30s. It is scary to think about breathing issues, but getting checked by a doctor is the only way to quieten these thoughts.
