Should teachers help students with asthma administer an inhaler?

My son has asthma, and sometimes he needs his inhaler during school hours. The school nurse isn't always available. Is it okay for teachers to help students administer their inhaler, or is that something they shouldn't do?

For something as critical as an asthma attack, teachers absolutely need to be trained and authorized to assist. Parents should provide clear instructions from their child's doctor to the school and keep an open communication channel. Ask your child's pediatrician and the school administration for a clear protocol.

I think it makes sense for teachers to help, especially with younger kids who might panic. But do teachers get proper training for this? What if they administer it incorrectly? Are there specific guidelines for schools in India?

Definitely. In emergency situations, immediate action is key. Teachers are often the first responders in school. Proper training for them is crucial, and it's also important for asthmatic kids to learn how to manage their condition, alongside having a healthy lifestyle and strong immunity.

This isn't something to take lightly. Teachers should only assist if they have proper medical training and clear, written authorization from parents and a doctor. Just 'helping' without knowledge can be dangerous. Schools need to have clear policies and emergency protocols in place, not just relying on goodwill.

Absolutely, 100%! 👍 Teachers are like second parents during school hours. Knowing how to help with an inhaler could literally be life-saving. Schools should provide mandatory training for all staff! It's a no-brainer! 😊

Haan, bilkul. If a kid is having an asthma attack, who else will help them? Teachers are there. They should be trained, haan, for proper use. It's about student safety. No point debating this, it's a basic need.
