Should students have mental health days?

My son is in 10th standard and is under so much academic pressure, sometimes he just looks completely exhausted. I've heard some places abroad are giving 'mental health days' to students. Do you think that's something our schools should consider here?

Mental health days are a crucial step, but they also need to be implemented carefully. It's not just about giving a day off, but ensuring students have access to resources and support if they are struggling beyond just needing a break. The school should have counselors available.

I totally get it! The academic pressure, social pressure, everything can be so overwhelming. A mental health day can be exactly what someone needs to recharge and come back stronger. It's about recognizing that mental fatigue is just as real as physical fatigue.

Honestly, it's a no-brainer. Mental well-being directly impacts a student's ability to learn and perform. Allowing them these days sends a strong message that their mental health matters. It's about nurturing the whole person, not just academics.

When I was in college, I went through a period of severe stress and wished I had an option like this. Just a day or two to step back without guilt would have made a huge difference. It helps you prevent reaching a breaking point. So yes, definitely a good idea.

Beyond just days off, schools should also promote healthy eating habits and mindfulness practices. While mental health days are good for immediate relief, sustained well-being comes from a balanced lifestyle, including proper nutrition and stress management techniques like yoga or meditation.
