Should newborns sleep with pacifiers?

My baby is quite fussy and sometimes a pacifier helps her calm down and sleep. My mother-in-law is strictly against it. Should newborns sleep with pacifiers or is it a bad habit?

Honestly, I'm also a bit confused about this. My sister used a pacifier for her baby, but I've heard some people say it's not good. Is there a certain age when it's okay to start using one, or when to stop?

For my son, we used a pacifier initially to help him sleep, but only for a short time. We made sure it wasn't a crutch. The main thing is to pick one that's designed for newborns and keep it super clean, haan.

When my baby was born, she was quite colicky and the pacifier was a lifesaver for those first few months. We slowly weaned her off it around six months. It really helped her settle down during those difficult phases.

Please, please, don't just go by what people say online or what your relatives tell you. Every baby is different, and what works for one might not work for another. Talk to your pediatrician first before introducing anything like a pacifier.

Many pediatricians actually recommend pacifiers for newborns, especially for SIDS prevention. Just ensure it's a good quality one and that it doesn't interfere with breastfeeding if that's what you're doing. Check with your doc, they'll guide you best.
