Should i feed my infant after vomiting?

My infant just threw up his feed a little while ago. He seems okay now, but I'm hesitant to feed him again immediately. Should I feed my infant after vomiting, or should I wait for some time before offering food again?

Aw, it's so stressful when babies vomit! My sister's baby had this issue. She was told to wait about 20-30 mins, then offer very small amounts of breastmilk or formula. If they keep it down, slowly increase. But if it's too much, def call the doc.

Give your little one some time to rest. Maybe try offering small sips of water or ORS if the doctor says it's okay, before a full feed.

Mere saath bhi hua tha mere bhanje ke time. Doc bola tha thoda der ruk ja, baby ko settle hone de. Fir ek do spoon paani ya ORS deke dekho. Agar theek hai, toh thoda sa feed kar sakte ho. Bas dekhna ki aur vomit na kare.

Honestly, don't take advice from strangers on the internet for your infant's health. What if it's something serious? Call your pediatrician immediately, they are the experts.

At Apollo, they always tell us to observe for dehydration signs after vomiting. It's crucial to consult your pediatrician. Ask them clearly when and how much to feed next, especially if the vomiting was forceful or frequent. Don't guess.

Oh, I've been there! It's so worrying. After my little one vomited, I usually waited about 30 minutes. Then I offered a much smaller feed than usual, and stayed close to see if it happened again. If they seemed fine and happy, I'd continue with small feeds. But if they were pale or kept vomiting, it was straight to the doctor.

Our pediatrician advised waiting for about an hour after an episode of vomiting. Then, start with very small amounts, like 1-2 teaspoons of ORS or even just breastmilk/formula, every 10-15 minutes. If that stays down, gradually increase the quantity over the next few hours. The key is slow and steady to let the stomach settle.
